In just a few words:  I love life…  I am happy…  I will dance in the rain if I have the chance…  My mind is free…  I have no inhibitions…  I have no regrets…  I love music… Whether I am full of anger and fury, or love and peace, — first and foremost I am always aware of how marvelous life feels!

Hi, my name is Natalia.

I can be easily reached at gloriousmuse13@yahoo.com

Well, where do I begin?  I am currently learning to play the piano, — by myself.  That pretty much takes up most of my waking hours.  I love to sleep!  I love to shop!  I am very much a normal female on the outside.  I have no regrets, I can be fairly arrogant.  I am very stubborn and difficult to be with. I love music, I appreciate genuine, real people who are not afraid to show even the worst parts of themselves.  I have a load of bad qualities, all except one, — I am not a hypocrite.  I am a former long-distance runner, but I’ve had enough wits to quit in time.  I hate the Texas sun and the traditional “Texas Values”.

As I said, I love music…. It makes me feel alive, so aware of every breath, of every hearbeat.  I can feel it running in my veins, reaching to the core of my bones.  I can hear the Universe move around me at the speed of light when there is music.

In my first place is a well-known British trio MUSE, of course.  In my second place, MUSE again…. and in the third place, — oh what a surprise: MUSE!  But seriously, I love many sounds and styles, from Mozart’s 25th Symphony and his haunting ‘Requiem’ to Korea’s contemporary pianist Yiruma.  My MP3 player is full of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Holst, Grieg, Prokofiev, Shostakovich…. I also love old rock, such as Queen and Scorpions.  I can not stand boring music.  U2, for example are boring to me, and yes, that includes ‘No Line On The Horizon’.

MUSE, on the other hand are addictive… like pure undiluted pleasure, there are no words strong enough or expressive enough to describe their sound.

I was born and raised in Russia, but I’ve lived in the States since I was a teen.  I am currently in Plano TX, which is a suburb in the northern part of Dallas.  I love Dallas, and every time I find myself away for any period of time I feel that a part of me is missing.  I always feel such overwhelming relief to come back to this sweltering, unendurable heat; this endless, gorgeous sky; this unpredictable, crazy weather; and this mind-blowing, suicidal driving along hundreds of miles of highways!  There is nothing quite like Dallas anywhere else in this world.

Of course there are many TX things I disagree with, and sometimes I am ashamed to even admit (especially online) that I live in TX.  I am an atheist to start with, and that doesn’t go well with the Bible-Belt mentality….. but, that’s for another day!

Why I’ve made this blog…

Well, I have always loved old Muse articles and interviews; and the more random they are — the better!  I don’t really know why, but the subject of Muse in the mainstream media is usually the one that arouses my curiosity.  Muse fan community in general does an incredible job in increasing the band’s presence online; there are wonderful sites that are dedicated to Muse bootlegs, videos, pictures, news, MP3s, stories, — every bit of information one would want to find.  But what I personally want to know first and foremost is how Muse are presented in the media…  Some of the things I’ve read over the years have been very interesting, to say the least.

The idea for this blog was very simple.  Muse significantly increase their fan-base with each new album.  ”The Resistance” will be no different.  I wanted to create a place that a new fan could stumble upon purely by accident, and come away as a better-informed fan, having gained a new curiosity about the music and a new appreciation of the band as people.

Muse make my life 100% better.  Nothing I ever do in order to promote them will ever be enough.  And that’s the truth I am not afraid to admit.

About the name…

Erato daughter of Zeus

Erato daughter of Zeus

According to Wikipedia:

In Greek mythology, Erato (Ἐρατώ) is one of the Greek Muses. The name means “desired” or “lovely”, being derived from the same root as Eros, as Apollonius of Rhodes alludes to in Book III of his Argonautica.

Erato is the Muse of lyric poetry, especially love and erotic poetry. In the Orphic hymn to the Muses, it is Erato who charms the sight. Since the Renaissance she is often shown with a wreath of myrtle and roses, holding a lyre, or a small kithara, (a modern word ‘guitar’ comes from here) a musical instrument that Apollo or she herself invented.

I do not claim to be neither ‘desired’ nor ‘lovely’, I simply enjoy the ‘Musey’ (see the Unofficial Muser Dictionary) reference to my favorite band!

    Hi Natalia,
I love what you have done it is a tribute to a great band. We am very like minded. I was raised by christian parent, and they were holy rolling bible thumping to be sure. The problem for the is that I am a transgendered and I have a GF that is transgendered as well. Funny part is that she is from Houston TX. OMG lmao. Well you can imagine what OUR parents think. I don’t know if you have seen this movie yet, but check it out.. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/. Though I am not an atheist I am more learned in the ways of ZEN due to fact that I lived in Japan for 2 1/2 yrs.. Anyway thanks for your inspirational work with Muse’s music keep it up. I am on face book. And you can email me anytime, and I hope you do.

    • Hi Danielle!

It’s great to hear from you! I will definitely look at that movie as soon as possible, — thank you so much for the link!

And thank you for your lovely comments about the blog… I should have done it years earlier. Muse do make my life 100% better; nothing I ever do for them promotion-wise will ever be enough.

And you know, since I started doing this I have met a lot of incredible, like-minded people from all walks of life. Many of them have shared mind-blowing stories… This is what I love about the Internet — it made the world so much smaller, yet so much more fun!

Feel free to talk to me any time you like, — I am always at gloriousmuse13@yahoo.com. And if you ever need anything Muse-related, don’t hesitate to ask.

      Cheers!

      Natalia xx

  2. I have´nt read this before until now…wow, you really took the words out of my mouth practically… the way you describe music and your love for Muse. I am a fanatic music lover myself, I love everything from classical to rock. My number one, like yours, is of course Muse. Of all, they really did make something that´s impossible to describe. And Mozart… his requiem is fantastic by the way!
I saw that you like to read books to. As do I =) War and peace- I have it but I have´nt read it. Yet. I saw the series on TV on spring this year, have you seen it?
I play the piano by the way and that´s a thrill beyond words to say… I get ecstatic. But it was a while ago I played now… cause studies and work have all my attention now. And my blog. And yours. =)

Well, I will not take anymore of your time. I better stop babbling. Just wanted to say something. Have a great evening!

    Lots of hugs// Maria

    • Maria, you are not babbling, and it’s always wonderful to talk to you! It’s pretty rare to meet another person who feels about music the way I do, — so when I do meet someone like that, I am simply thrilled!

Wow! I didn’t know you played the piano! Those 88 keys are a pure miracle, and to see someone’s hands move along them is one of the most beautiful things. I am still learning, very slowly in fact. I wish I had started when I was a kid…

And yes, I love books. Just finished “A Beautiful Mind” written about John Nash, and started a book on the String Theory — I am addicted to science, I am a nerd! :-) I read “War and Peace” twice, once in Russian, and once in English. I am convinced now that the book is extremely boring, and magnificent at the same time! You’ll hate the fact that it’s so long, but may love Tolstoy’s ramblings on life, death, faith, free will….

Anyhow, I hope you’ll have a great evening yourself!

      Cheers,

      Hugs and Kisses!

      Natalia.

  3. I “stumbled” across this blog and i love it…. thanks so much. I have been in love with Muse for a couple of months now, which is actually impressive. My track record with bands is usually i like them for a week, maybe, and then i move on. But i find with Muse, its not just the music that makes me slightly obsessed. its the passion in the music and the lyrics, and Matt, Dom, and Chris as people. Watching them live gives me chills and every new song is a treasure :)
I never knew what “my genre” was until I found Muse. Muse is its own genre and really, the own… :)
Keep up on the articles and thanks again
