Song Of The Day: Muse – Micro Cuts Live at Le Zenith, Paris 2001 VIDEO
http://erato1.wordpress.com

Music on my mind today:
J. S. Bach - Prelude in Dm, BWV 999 (Lute)
I promise that I didn’t just make you listen to Bach for my own twisted entertainment. I wanted everyone to be able to hear the unmistakable similarities between Bach’s Prelude and Muse’s Micro Cuts. I love everything about Micro Cuts, Matt’s falsetto there is as good as it’s ever been. And yes, take the time to read the lyrics if you don’t already know them, they are not the easiest thing to decipher when you are listening to the music.
Lyrics:
Hands are red with your blame
Megaphone screaming my name
Whimpers someone I should've loved
Souls weeping above
I've seen
What you’re doing to me
Destroying puppet strings
To our souls
Micro waves me insane
A blade cuts in your brain
Sounds like forks on a plate
Blackboard scratched with hate
I've seen
What you’re doing to me
Destroying puppet strings
To our souls

The video above is from ”Muse Hullabaloo – Live at Le Zenith Paris” DVD, which came out in 2002. Hullabaloo was the first DVD ever released by the band, and I am especially glad that a French gig was selected for this, – some of the best shows Muse have ever played took place in France, and we have a very passionate French audience to thank for that!
There is a lot to say about the gig at Le Zenith in Paris in 2001, I personally prefer it to anything else, even H.A.A.R.P. Yes, I mean it. Even H.A.A.R.P. This gig was nothing short of legendary, you must see it for yourselves to believe it.
I would have loved to be able to upload the whole show here; but, as it happens, Hullabaloo is a commercial release from Muse and I will not disrespect the band by posting something they are trying to sell. So do yourselves a favour – make a point to see this DVD if you haven’t seen it already. The documentary alone is worth it, this will be the best £7.99 you will have ever spent:
Another thing I should mention, Darkshines was played at Le Zenith in 2001 but it’s not included on the DVD (it can be found on the Japanese release only), so don’t miss it either here or on YouTube:

sometimes I miss those gigs from earlier days – I mean, these big concerts these times are all organized up to the detail, optimized shows – I miss the passion behind it – you can see that at the pictures , all the same in many parts, no matter where they were made or who made them – just my 2cents – sorry for my english

Nat, although in this instance it is played on the lute, the Prelude in D minor is in fact from the first of the 6 “cello suites” that Bach wrote. I am lucky enough to hear it live at home often, and I have always thought that Microcuts was heavily influenced by it ( ripped straight off it). ;-D
), and also Darkshines – I don’t think I have actually SEEN this before , even though the song is included on the CD release of Hullaballoo!
Thanks for posting Microcuts (and esp the lyrics!! – no “puppies dreams”

The first time I head/saw this version (like 2 weeks ago) I was blown away! This is one of the most (if not the most) powerful versions of this song! Matt sounds so angry in this one and the ending riff is amazing! Thank you for posting
.
Thanks to my dear aussie friend, Jyssica, who bought Hullabaloo (along Absolution Tour) for me
. Those DVDs are pretty hard to get in here! (esp hullabaloo).
